Becoming a Member:

Any interested person who subscribes to the aims of the Society can become an ordinary member of LASSA. This includes all related healthcare providers, such as doctors, nurses, dietitians, etc.

Any member may submit to the Committee (through the ) the name of any person who is desirous of election to the Society.

The candidate may then be elected by the Committee to membership of the Society.

Persons distinguished for eminent services in the fields of lipid metabolism or atherosclerosis or other allied sciences may be made honorary members by the approval of the committee.

Honorary members shall enjoy all privileges of the Society but shall not have the right to vote, and will not be obliged to pay subscriptions.

The annual subscription to the Society:

R50.00 (honorary members are free).

This covers the mailing costs of 2-3 newsletters per year as well as subscription to the International Atherosclerosis Society (IAS) which at present costs US $3.00  per member.

The subscription fee is usually included in the registration fee of our Congress which is held every 2 years. Those members who do not attend the Regular General Meeting may pay the subscription fee directly to the Society.

Members whose subscriptions are in arrears may, at the discretion of the Committee, be dropped from the Society.
